My sister is in town now, and it's been fun re-discovering places, such as Musutafa Center, Sentosa, and etc. We went to the Resort World in Sentosa, and although new shops there were a bit of a let down, Mega Zip was fun! We didn't know we needed to bring a passport to go into Casino, so we couldn't this time. We will definitely try next time!

今日本から妹が遊びに来ていて、一緒にシンガポールを観光しています。
これが結構楽しいのですよね。普段行かないセントーサやムスタファセンターなどなど。
セントーサのリゾートワールドにも行ってきました。ビクトリアズシークレットなど、楽しみにしていたのですが、ちょっと残念！商品の内容がイマイチ充実していなかった感じでした。残念ながらお買物は？？でしたが、Mega Zipはおススメです！
カジノはパスポートを持ってなく、入場できなかったのですが、次回は必ず行ってみたいです。

Workshops - sewing & ikebana (flower arrangenemt)

I would like to invite you to the following workshops we are planning in April and May.
Both workshops will be conducted in a small group (maximum 5 people), so even if you are new to it, please feel free to join us.

= sewing workshop by hitoshi =


date : 23 April, Friday
time : 10am - noon
fee : $50 (including materials except for buttons)
* Please bring buttons you would like to put in the center. If you have scissors, threads and needles, please bring them, too.


We will prepare rest of the materials.
We will be making corsages. You can choose 2 types of corsage out of 3 types as attached. Please note that final corsage may look a little different from the attachments depending on the materials available on the day. You can put the corsage on your bag, clothes, and even accessories!



= ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement, sogetsu school) workshop by keiko =
date : 5 May, Wednesday
time : 9:30am - 11:30am
fee : $95 (including flowers and tools to be used on the day)


Attached photo was taken after the 1st workshop. Arrangement of lowers may look different from the attachment depending on the vailability of seasonal flowers or types of the vase to be used.
Keiko will try to bring seasonal flowers to bring spring to your home!


Both are first-come, first-served basis.

＜お裁縫ワークショップ＞

内容：コサージュ2個
            添付の3タイプのうち、お好きなものを2つ選んで作成いただきます
            使用する生地によって、実際の完成品は添付と多少異なります
費用：$50（生地、レースなど込み）
教えてくださる方：Hitoshiさん（女性の方です、…念のため）
定員：5名
必要なもの：コサージュの中心につけるお好きなボタン
                      裁ちバサミ、針、糸（こちらでも多少用意いたします）
                      使用するリネンやコットンの生地、レース、テープなどはこちらで用意いたします
バッグ、お洋服はもちろん、アクセサリーにもつけて、自由に楽しんでいただけるコサージュです






＜いけばな（草月流）ワークショップ＞
日時：5月5日(水)　9時半～11時半ごろ
内容：端午の節句にちなんだ草月流いけばな
添付は前回1回目のワークショップのときのものです
費用：$95（お花代、お道具レンタル代込）
教えてくださる方：芳野敬子さん
定員：5名
シンガポールには四季がないこともあり、「端午の節句」など、季節の行事の雰囲気を
味わう機会があまりありませんが、季節のお花をいけて四季を味わってみませんか？

It was fun!

Today, we had the first sewing workshop at atomi, thanks to an amazing instructor, Hitoshi, and all the enthusiastic customers of atomi. It was fun even just watching it, for a plain linen cloths to turn into wonderful tissue paper holders! What was more interesting was that it all turned out very differently, as each participants chose different cloths and different ways to accessorize it. It's such a creative experience, and it's really nice to be able to make something on your own. Great thing is that Hitoshi made it really enjoyable and almost easy to make. Of course, all the participants were so quick to learn that everyone managed to finish it in 2 hours! Amazing.

今日はatomiにて初のお裁縫ワークショップを開催しました。教えてくださったHitoshiさんと参加してくださった皆さまのお陰です。見ているだけでも（私です…）一枚の麻布が形あるステキなティッシューペーパーケースに変身していくのが、とっても楽しかったです。皆さんがそれぞれ違う布、パーツを選んでくださったので、１つずつ違った完成形になり、それもまた本当に面白かったですよ。やっぱり何かを自分で作れるって良いなーと思いました（私は見ていただけなんですが！）。Hitoshiさんが楽しくいかにも簡単に作れるように仕向けてくださったのと、皆さん飲込みが早く、2時間で完成しました！楽しい時間、ありがとうございました！また企画できたら良いなと思ってますので、ご興味ある方、次回是非ご参加くださいね。（Hitoshiさんよろしくお願いします～）

Earth Hour

atomi is participating the Earth Hour on 27 March, Saturday. We will turn our lights down by 50% between 8:30pm and 9:30pm, and will use our LED lights, which reduce power consumption by 80 to 90%.

Also, we hope you will enjoy quiet evening on the 27th by listening to beautiful piano music. One of the CDs we carry for sale is a music for WWF Japan's global warming campaign (http://pb.wwf.or.jp/). Come to atomi, and try listening to the music.

I am not really interested, if it's an one-off event, as I believe we need more continuous effort for climate action. However, if this 1 hour event can be a reminder for all of us to care for an environment we live in in our daily lives, let's do it!

For atomi's continuous effort to be more environment friendly, we are soon introducing e-glass in our product range. e-glass uses used fluorescent bulb to reduce its disposal. We will update more on it soon!

3月27日(土)のEarth Hourにatomiも参加します。8時半～9時半まで、お店の電気を半分にして、消費電力が80%～90%カットできるというLEDライトを灯します。

そんなムーディーな土曜日の夜、ピアノの素敵な音楽と過ごすのはいかがでしょう？

atomiでCDも販売している「北の果ての物語」という音楽が、実は日本WWFの地球温暖化対策キャンペーンのテーマ音楽になっているんです(http://pb.wwf.or.jp/)。清らかなピアノの素敵なサウンドです。atomiでも音楽を流しているので、聞きにいらしてくださいね。

Earth Hourのイベント、地球温暖化なんていう壮大に思えるテーマに対して、一度きりのイベントなのであれば大して興味はないのです。でもこれが日常生活で少しでも環境について想いをめぐらせるきっかけになるのであれば大賛成です。

atomiでも、環境に配慮した商品が近々届く予定です。

e-glassという、使用済みの蛍光灯のガラスをリサイクルして作られるグラスたちです。この商品について、また近々ご案内しますね。

Today, I am re-starting yoga practice at a new studio. I stopped practicing before preparing for the opening of atomi (or an excuse!?), and I am very excited! I hope it will go well... If I am moving very slowly tomorrow, that means I am in muscle pain!

sewing workshop at atomi

This time, I would like to invite you to a sewing workshop at atomi.

We are going to make a "tissue paper cover".

We will use linen material as a base, and will arrange it with buttons and threads. You can choose the materials among the ones that are available, so come and make your only piece in the world.

In fact, I have been avoiding sewing as much as possible, because I didn't really know how to do it. However, I always wanted to be able to make something. We will have Hitoshi as an instructor this time at atomi, and she will guide you from basics. Even if you are very new to sewing like myself, as long as you are interested, take this opportunity, and join us! For those who are experienced, you will still enjoy sewing together with those who enjoy it as much as you do, and you can use different materials to personalize it even more.

5 people is the maximum number of people we can have at this workshop, so you will be able to enjoy small and cozy workshop in a relaxing morning.

If you are interested, please stop by atomi and make the payment. It will be a first-come and first-served basis. If you have, please bring your own needles and scissors.

今回はティッシュペーパーカバーを作製します。

リネンの生地をベースに、ボタンや紐で素敵にアレンジします。

実は私はお裁縫が大の苦手で、ずーっとお裁縫はできるだけ避けて通ってきたのですが、自分で何かを作製するということに憧れは持っていました。今回お裁縫の先生であるHitoshiさん（女性の先生です、念のため！）とご縁があり、私のような初心者の方でもやさしく教えていただけますので、苦手意識がある方も、ご興味があればこの機会に是非ご参加ください。
また上級者の方も、いろいろとアレンジを加えることで楽しんでいただけると思います。

最大5名でのワークショップになりますので、少人数でじっくりとお楽しみいただけます。
リネン生地などの材料は主にfogのモノを使用します。生地の柄など、お好きなものをある中からお選びいただけます。
ご参加ご希望の方は、参加費をatomiまでお持ちください。先着順とさせていただきます。

more spring colours

atomi's 1st workshop!

We had atomi's first workshop - ikebana (Japanese flower workshop) this morning. Thank you for those who joined us! Because the theme was to celebrate spring, the flowers really did bring spring in atomi. It was such a warm and cozy atomosphere, and I do hope everyone felt the same way.

As we are planning more of such workshops, I will post such news here, too.

今日は3月3日、桃の節句です。シンガポールにいて一番身近でなくなるもの、それは四季かもしれません。温暖なシンガポールの気候、過ごしやすくもありますが、四季のある中で育った季節の記憶が懐かしくなりもします。そしてそれに付随する食べ物も！

少しでも春を感じていただきたいと（私も含めて、です！）、今朝、桃の節句をテーマにいけばなのワークショップを開きました。お店開店前の静かな時間に、春のお花に囲まれて、私も見ていてとても幸せな時間でした。参加いただいたみなさまにも、楽しんでいただけたら嬉しいです。

せっかくatomi、という場所があるので、また今後もいろいろなワークショップを企画していきたいと思っています。このブログでもお知らせいたしますね。

First holiday

I hope you had wonderful long weekend during the celebration of Lunar New Year. It was the first holiday we had after the opening of atomi. On both days, we were invited to gatherings by people we met through atomi, and met more new people there. I felt so happy that atomi brought us so many great things in our lives. I am really grateful.

On the Valentine's day, we went out to have dinner at Garibaldi (http://www.garibaldi.com.sg/), which is also a wonderful supporter of atomi. At their new restaurant, they are using our aprons, coasters, and napkins. I can't wait to dine using our linens! I will update on this blog once the restaurant opens.

In order for us to give back to our customers, we are organizing more workshops and events at atomi. The first one will be on 3 March, 10am. We are organizing a Ikebana (flower arrangement) workshop! If you are interested, please let me know (mitsuko@atomi-jp.com). We would like to offer different things to our customers, and hope atomi is a place where our customers can come, and relax and enjoy.

旧正月の長い週末、みなさんのんびりできましたか？
私たちにとってはatomiオープン以来、初めてのお休みでした。日々できないことをいろいろと詰め込みすぎ、逆に忙しかったような。。それでも2日ともatomiを通して知合った方のお家にお招きいただいて、そこでまたいろんな方々と知りあえ、とっても楽しい2日間でした。お客様のお家に逆にお招きいただくなんて、atomiのお客様は本当にやさしい方々ばかりなのです！

14日バレンタインの日は、こちらもとても良くしてくださっているGaribaldiレストランに行ってきました（http://www.garibaldi.com.sg/）。近すぎず遠すぎない素晴らしいサービス、高級感の中にもアットホームな雰囲気で、お料理ももちろん美味しく、久しぶりのゆったりとしたディナー、満喫しました。実はGaribaldiグループの新しいレストランで、atomiのエプロン、コースター、ナプキンなどを使ってくださるのです。またオープンしましたらこちらでお知らせしますね。私たちもatomiのリネンを使ったディナーを楽しみにしています。

私たちもお客様に少しでもお返ししたく、ワークショップなどを企画しています。atomiの場所を提供することで、興味のあるお客様にはいろいろな選択肢をご提供できたら、と思っています。第一弾として3月3日、10時～いけばなのワークショップを企画しました。ご興味ある方はmitsuko@atomi-jp.comまでお気軽にご連絡くださいね。

継続！

On last Saturday, a friend of mine I met through yoga invited my husband and me to an annual lunar year-end party at her gorgeous house. We had a great time meeting new people. She practices / teaches yoga, and is a blogger, too. http://ameblo.jp/pranayoga/page-6.html#main After the party, I visited her blog, read some of her past posts, and in one of the posts, she was writing how important it is to keep continuing and some tips how to achieve that. So here I am, re-starting this blog page, where I had left it unupdated almost for a month!

先週の土曜日、ヨガで知合った友人が旧暦忘年会パーティーをするということで、彼女のとっても素敵なお家に行ってきました。お店にいるだけでは知合えなかったかもしれない方たちとのご縁、彼女のお手製の美味しいお料理などなど、とても楽しい時間を過ごしました。

続けることに意義がある！というポストに行き当たりました。
ということで、1ヶ月ほども放置していたこのブログ、更新しています！
彼女を見習って、私ももう少し定期的にブログ更新できるように頑張ります。

シンガポールは旧暦のお正月のお祝いもあることを言い訳に、「ブログ継続」を今年の抱負にして仕切り直しです！
