atomiにもステキなジュエリーを置いてくださっているKumiさんが、少人数で中国結を教えてくださる贅沢なワークショップです。基本の編み方2種類を使って、ブレスレットを作成し、お持ち帰りいただけます。基本的な編み方を習得いただくと、ネックレスなどへの応用も可能です。

上の画像、当日作製するブレスレットと、中国結を使ったネックレスです。

実際作製するものは、ビーズの入手状況によって、多少変更があるかもしれません。

また、今回新しい時間帯を試しています。時間帯について何かご意見がございましたら、お気軽にお知らせください。今後このようなワークショップを企画する際、なるべく皆さんが来ていただきやすい時間帯にしたいと思っています。

I am happy to announce that ikebana workshop had been fully booked! I will upload some photos of the workshop afterwards.

My sister is in town now, and it's been fun re-discovering places, such as Musutafa Center, Sentosa, and etc. We went to the Resort World in Sentosa, and although new shops there were a bit of a let down, Mega Zip was fun! We didn't know we needed to bring a passport to go into Casino, so we couldn't this time. We will definitely try next time!

今日本から妹が遊びに来ていて、一緒にシンガポールを観光しています。
これが結構楽しいのですよね。普段行かないセントーサやムスタファセンターなどなど。
セントーサのリゾートワールドにも行ってきました。ビクトリアズシークレットなど、楽しみにしていたのですが、ちょっと残念！商品の内容がイマイチ充実していなかった感じでした。残念ながらお買物は？？でしたが、Mega Zipはおススメです！
カジノはパスポートを持ってなく、入場できなかったのですが、次回は必ず行ってみたいです。

It was fun!

Today, we had the first sewing workshop at atomi, thanks to an amazing instructor, Hitoshi, and all the enthusiastic customers of atomi. It was fun even just watching it, for a plain linen cloths to turn into wonderful tissue paper holders! What was more interesting was that it all turned out very differently, as each participants chose different cloths and different ways to accessorize it. It's such a creative experience, and it's really nice to be able to make something on your own. Great thing is that Hitoshi made it really enjoyable and almost easy to make. Of course, all the participants were so quick to learn that everyone managed to finish it in 2 hours! Amazing.

今日はatomiにて初のお裁縫ワークショップを開催しました。教えてくださったHitoshiさんと参加してくださった皆さまのお陰です。見ているだけでも（私です…）一枚の麻布が形あるステキなティッシューペーパーケースに変身していくのが、とっても楽しかったです。皆さんがそれぞれ違う布、パーツを選んでくださったので、１つずつ違った完成形になり、それもまた本当に面白かったですよ。やっぱり何かを自分で作れるって良いなーと思いました（私は見ていただけなんですが！）。Hitoshiさんが楽しくいかにも簡単に作れるように仕向けてくださったのと、皆さん飲込みが早く、2時間で完成しました！楽しい時間、ありがとうございました！また企画できたら良いなと思ってますので、ご興味ある方、次回是非ご参加くださいね。（Hitoshiさんよろしくお願いします～）

This time, I would like to invite you to a sewing workshop at atomi.

date & time : 31 Mar, Wed 10am - around noon

venue : atomi (#04-27 mandarin gallery)

fee：　$50 including materials

We are going to make a "tissue paper cover".

We will use linen material as a base, and will arrange it with buttons and threads. You can choose the materials among the ones that are available, so come and make your only piece in the world.

In fact, I have been avoiding sewing as much as possible, because I didn't really know how to do it. However, I always wanted to be able to make something. We will have Hitoshi as an instructor this time at atomi, and she will guide you from basics. Even if you are very new to sewing like myself, as long as you are interested, take this opportunity, and join us! For those who are experienced, you will still enjoy sewing together with those who enjoy it as much as you do, and you can use different materials to personalize it even more.

5 people is the maximum number of people we can have at this workshop, so you will be able to enjoy small and cozy workshop in a relaxing morning.

If you are interested, please stop by atomi and make the payment. It will be a first-come and first-served basis. If you have, please bring your own needles and scissors.

今回はティッシュペーパーカバーを作製します。

リネンの生地をベースに、ボタンや紐で素敵にアレンジします。

実は私はお裁縫が大の苦手で、ずーっとお裁縫はできるだけ避けて通ってきたのですが、自分で何かを作製するということに憧れは持っていました。今回お裁縫の先生であるHitoshiさん（女性の先生です、念のため！）とご縁があり、私のような初心者の方でもやさしく教えていただけますので、苦手意識がある方も、ご興味があればこの機会に是非ご参加ください。
また上級者の方も、いろいろとアレンジを加えることで楽しんでいただけると思います。

最大5名でのワークショップになりますので、少人数でじっくりとお楽しみいただけます。
リネン生地などの材料は主にfogのモノを使用します。生地の柄など、お好きなものをある中からお選びいただけます。
ご参加ご希望の方は、参加費をatomiまでお持ちください。先着順とさせていただきます。

針やはさみなど、お持ちの方はご持参ください。

atomi's 1st workshop!

We had atomi's first workshop - ikebana (Japanese flower workshop) this morning. Thank you for those who joined us! Because the theme was to celebrate spring, the flowers really did bring spring in atomi. It was such a warm and cozy atomosphere, and I do hope everyone felt the same way.

As we are planning more of such workshops, I will post such news here, too.

今日は3月3日、桃の節句です。シンガポールにいて一番身近でなくなるもの、それは四季かもしれません。温暖なシンガポールの気候、過ごしやすくもありますが、四季のある中で育った季節の記憶が懐かしくなりもします。そしてそれに付随する食べ物も！

少しでも春を感じていただきたいと（私も含めて、です！）、今朝、桃の節句をテーマにいけばなのワークショップを開きました。お店開店前の静かな時間に、春のお花に囲まれて、私も見ていてとても幸せな時間でした。参加いただいたみなさまにも、楽しんでいただけたら嬉しいです。

せっかくatomi、という場所があるので、また今後もいろいろなワークショップを企画していきたいと思っています。このブログでもお知らせいたしますね。

Delicious tea from Japan had arrived!

Today, I am happy to inform you that delicious teas from Japan had finally arrived.

Not only the usual Japanese green tea, but we also have lemon grass tea that is grown in Saga, Japan. The lemon grass tea is really fragrant, and is perfect as a refreshing drink after meals or if iced,it is wonderful to drink on a hot day.

The green tea is fragrant and tasty, too.

Especially, blended teas are the unique ones.

- lemon grass tea x yuzu (yuzu's mild fragrance is refreshing)

- brown tea x Japanese pear (you can taste slight sweetness of the pear)

- green tea x lemon grass tea (lemon grass's refreshing aroma blends with green tea very well)

- green tea x roasted soy bean (nutty flavour of the roasted soy bean goes well with Asian food)

The teas are grown organically, and they are 100% all natural without any flavourings or colourings, so you can truly enjoy the natural flavour of the tea. I sometimes find artificially flavoured teas too strong, so when I tried these teas for the first time, I fell in love with the "all-natural" concept and taste of the whole tea series, and that's how we decided to introduce the tea series at atomi.

As you can see, it comes with nice packaging, so it will make a great gift, too. In fact, the person who designed the packaging of the tea had won awards for good packaging in Japan.

We hope these tea will help you relax at the end of a busy day, or tostart a great day in the morning.

日本から美味しいお茶が入荷いたしました!

全て日本で有機栽培されたお茶です。緑茶だけでなく、なんと佐賀県で生産されたレモングラスティーもあるんです。とても香りが良く、食後のお茶や、暑い日はアイスティーでもとても美味しいです。緑茶も釜炒製法で仕上げられており、香り・風味ともにとても豊かです。

特にブレンドティーが面白く、美味しい組合せでとても気に入っています。

　・ レモングラスティー x ユズ（ユズのほのかな香りが新鮮です）

　・ 和紅茶 x 梨（ほのかな自然な梨の甘さが楽しめます）

　・ 釜炒緑茶 x レモングラスティー（レモングラスのすっきりとした香りが緑茶にマッチしています）

人工の香料や着色料など、全く無添加の100%ナチュラルなお茶です。私は人工のフレーバーティー、特に香りの強いものがどうも苦手で、このお茶に出会ったときにその自然な味にとても感動したのが、atomiでご紹介することになったきっかけです。パッケージもとても素敵なので、ギフトにも喜ばれそうです。

TV filming on 15 Jan

Tomorrow on 15 January, channel 8 is coming to atomi to film a show. During the filming, we will have to close the shop. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused!

明日1月15日、14時～18時ごろにかけてシンガポールの中国語放送局、チャンネル8がatomiにて撮影を行うことになりました。その間お店をクローズしなければならず、ご迷惑をおかけすることになります。
どんな撮影になるのか見当もつかず。。素敵に紹介してもらえるように頑張ります！

New!

I would like to share with you what's new in atomi.
These are our hair ties, and 6pcs of new stripe ones just arrived yesterday, and some are already sold out! Again this time, the balance of colours is stunning, and they really are art pieces. They are all unique pieces, as the designer Yuriko does not repeat the design. What's great about them is that you can change the rubber band, so you can use them for a very long time. Yuriko specializes in making glass accessories, and I love the way she mixes different colours. She also makes trays and cufflinks, which designs are only available at atomi.

atomiに新商品が入りました。
ガラス製のヘアゴムです！初めて見たときは、こんなおしゃれなヘアゴムがあるんだ！と目からうろこでした。

今回の新入荷はストライプタイプで、全て1点モノで、世界に1つしかないものです。すでにいくつか巣立っていきました。（ありがとうございます）いつも色の組合わせ方が絶妙で、見ていて幸せな気分になる色ばかりです。ゴムの部分は取替えが可能なので、長い間使っていただけるのもポイントです。

同じく全て1点モノのガラストレーも…　必見です！

どれも私自身が大好きな作品ばかりなのです。造ってくださっているあかしさんのお人柄が分かるような、やさしい雰囲気（でも甘すぎない）のものばかりです。

後ろに薄っすら写っている四角のヘアゴムも、実は3層の色使いになっていて、横からいろんな色がチラッと見えるのがツボです。

about linen

I just realized I have not posted why we carry linen at atomi. In fact, I think almost 50% of our products are linen items.



I thought about the reasons, and there are reasons, but I simply love them!
I love the feeling, the look, everything.



It all started when very good couple friend of ours gave us linen place mats as a wedding gift. Before that, we used to use cotton place mats, but once I started using the linen one, it was just so much better that now I only use linen place mats.



First of all, I love the feeling. It's soft yet it's got natural crisp feeling about it.
It's easy to wash and dry, and durable.


Linen is also very eco-friendly material.



- linen is one of the world's oldest fabrics, and is woven from the fibres of the flax plant and is a completely natural resource
- no part of the flax plant is wasted; the left over linen seeds,oil, straw and fibre are used in everything from lino and soap to cattle feed and paper.
- the production of linen fabric uses 5 to 20 times less water and energy than the production of cotton or other synthetic fabrics.
- linen fabrics are 100% biodegradable and recyclable.



It's amazing how much variety of different linen materials are available. My absolute favorite is a "bath mat"! I hope the image can capture how great it feels.

atomiでセレクトしている商品のうち、半分以上をリネン商品が占めています。

なぜリネンなのか。

改めて考えてみましたが、リネンが大好きだから、というところに落着いてしまいました。


はじまりは、仲良くしてもらっている大好きなお友達ご夫婦からいただいた、リネンのプレイスマットでした。
それまではあまり深く考えずにコットンのプレイスマットを使っていましたが、一度リネンのものを使ってみると、その使い心地のよさに驚きました。
柔らかいのにシャリッとした感触、自然の素材が持つやさしい感触などなど。

こう表現すると、ものすごく主観的になってしまうのですが、実際簡単にお洗濯できて乾きが早かったり、汚れが落ちやすかったり、客観的に見てもとても使いやすい素材です。

更に、環境にもやさしいので一石二鳥です。


- フラックスは何百年も栽培されてきた、再生可能な資源
- フラックスの植物には捨てるところがほとんど無く、どの部分も価値がある（亜麻油、亜麻仁など）
- リネンの生産に必要とされる水やエネルギーの量はコットンのそれと比べて5～20倍少なくすむ
- リネンは完全な生分解性があり、環境の中で循環している

リネンと一言で言っても、様々な素材がそろっています。

私の一押しはバスマットです！（画像で肌触りのよさが伝わるでしょうか。。）

atomi opened its door on 27th Nov, finally! Thank you those who visited us in the past 3 days for the support and encouragement. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused due to lack of experience on our side and noise and smell from renovations around us. We will continue to do our very best.

It's been totally a new experience for my husband and myself, but we are definetely enjoyning every minute of it. It's very rewarding to get to talk to people who visit us, and get to know them. We are looking forward for the whole mall to be open soon, so that people who visit us can enjoy the whole shopping experience at the Mandarin Gallery.

We are planning on having a few interviews and photo shoots for media next week, so we will keep you posted on any new developments :)

11月27日(金)に晴れてatomiがオープンいたしました！

お越しいただいたみなさま、大変ありがとうございました。不慣れな点、改装中の部分がありご迷惑をおかけしたかもしれません。今後ともより良いお店にしていけるよう努力してまいりますので、どうぞまた遊びに来てください。

また、初日の午前中にお越しいただいたお客様がいらっしゃったのですが、あいにくTV（チャンネルUです）の撮影が入っており、入店いただくことができなかったお客様がいらっしゃいました。せっかく初日にお越しいただいたのに、申し訳ない気持ちでいっぱいです。。ゴメンなさい。是非またこの周辺にいらっしゃることがありましたら、お立ち寄りいただけたら嬉しいです。心よりお待ちしています。

まだまだ不慣れな私たちですが、お客さまに来ていただいて、お話などできることとても嬉しく思っています。

これからも日本の良いものをご紹介していけるよう、頑張ってまいりますので、是非遊びに来てくださいね。
